Khloe Kardashian Makeup Tutorial

I don't about you but love or hate the Kardashian sisters,  I am completely obsessed with checking out their latest makeup looks!

I think that Khloe Kardashian is often pushed into the shadows of her sister Kim, but in my opinion she has been completely smashing it recently in terms of makeup, hair, clothes and incredible body!

As i was scrolling through instagram I found this gorgeous photo of Khloe and I thought that as I have similar (i wish) ombre hair at the moment, I would attempt to recreate the look!

See the photo evidence of the attempt below and check out my tutorial if you would like to know how I recreated the look!

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo

These little tubs of shimmery, creamy gloriousness have fast become my favourite drugstore buy in the last few months.

To name a few pros of the product; they sit on the eyelid beautifully, they take minutes to apply, they don't crease as a lot of cream based eye shadows tend to and best of all, THEY DO NOT BUDGE. As the name would suggest, once they are on there, they ain't moving for no one! I can testify to this by admitting something that a makeup artist should never admit to (so don't tell anyone k??) -  I went to bed with a full face of makeup on while wearing one of the eye shadows (oops) and the next day when I woke up and looked in the mirror, my eye makeup looked EXACTLY the same as the day before. So I put on a fresh coat of mascara, topped up my eyeliner and headed out the door, confident that no one would know my secret!

I picked up three colours of the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tatoo as they were on a three for two in boots (yessssss!). Out of the three my favourite by a long shot is '35 On and On Bronze' which is a beautiful bronzy, goldy, colour which leaves you eyes looking really full of life and sparkly.

My second favourite from the selection is '70 Metallic Pomegrante' which again provides such a fabulous shimmery, pigmented finish and the colour tone is so warm ands lovely. This colour is absolutely perfect for a autumn/winter makeup look.

My least favourite of the bunch didn't really do it for me on its own. '40 Permanent Taupe' provides more of a matte finish which creates a really nice effect however I don't think that colour suits me personally.

However I did film a makeup tutorial on my Youtube channel using both '70 Metallic Pomegrante' and '40 Permanent Taupe' which I think creates a really interesting, statement look! Check out my video here if you would like to see how I created it.

The only con of the product is that it can get verrryyyyy messy when applying. I use my fingers to apply the cream to my eyelid and I'm not going to lie, it gets everywhere. I also find that it is not the easiest to blend and can sometimes look quite messy. But if you spend a little extra time and have your face wipes to hand, then you should be fine!!

I have inserted a photo taken from my Instagram Account which I think really shows off the 'On and On Bronze' eye colour in all its glory. Wee shout out to Kylie Jenner as I have teamed the glorious shimmery eye cream with an over drawn lip! Thinking about doing a separate blog post on the overdrawn lip so would love to know your thoughts!??? Cant decide whether I love it or look like a complete clown...

Thank you for reading!!

I have joined the Matte Revolution!

I don't know about you but I tend to shy away from matte lipsticks when my lips are chapped and dry (usually in the winter which when I like to wear them the most). But AT LAST i can get my matte on with this delicious new range from Charlotte Tilbury

I cannot rave about this product enough. Charlotte has given us a matte lipstick that produces a striking colour that stays put for hours and doesn't drag across your lips or leave you feeling like you are parched. If that wasn't enough, the original shape of the bullet allows for easy use and leaves a crisp defined edge which in my opinion eliminates the need for a liner if you are in a rush. Last but not least I am going to take a moment to rave about the packaging which is is utterly rose goldenly stunning and the lipstick smells amazing.

I won't rant on too much further as I know many bloggers who have been lucky enough to try out the whole range have provided really good detailed reviews. At £23 a pop I have only managed to get my hands on one so far in the colour Love Liberty which is a gorgeous berry shade but rest assured I already have another just waiting in my online basket for when Pay Day comes around.

Cheers Tilbs, if you are reading (haha), I owe you one!

Bourjois Bronzing Powder and Highlighter

First of all I would just like to say how much I LOVE finding myself a little bargain.

I was in boots one lunch time browsing the makeup as you do and I stopped at the Bourjois stand with the intention of picking up the chocolate bronzer when this little compact caught my eye.

I had heard bloggers mention the product previously and I had been looking for a new contour kit so I looked at the price (I think normal price is around £7) and thought, I'll give it a go. I then got to the till only to be told that it was on offer today for a cracking £3.99! I paid and scurried out of the shop in case the shop assistant realised that it had been some sort of mistake.

The pros of the Bourjois Bronzing Powder and Highlight kit are that the bronzer is a really lovely shade, I would say similar to the Nars Laguna. It  provides a really natural looking colour, not too dark or orange. The highlight is also a really lovely colour, really light and fresh. I would say that the highlight is quite subtle so I do find that if I am looking for a really glowy look I do have to use quite a lot of it but I think subtlety is actually a positive of the product. It's all down to personal taste!

The set is really compact and has a mirror (great!). it also has magnetic top cover which makes it a perfect product to throw in the handbag without any fear of mess.

The only con of the product is that the rectangles of bronze and highlight are quite small and directly side by side so I have found that I have to use quite a small brush to make sure that I can use the two separately without overlapping.

Thanks for reading as always!

My top 5 foundations

I was asked for foundation and bronzer recommendations from someone who has been out of the make up game for a while so thought I would share my top five with mini reviews.

Nars Sheer Glow

This foundation is medium coverage (not sheer) and is perfect for creating glowing skin. I would say that I didn't get the hype at first as I found that it made my skin look a bit too shiny and greasy if too much was applied however I think that I have now perfected the application and I love it! I would say don't use too much and just spend that little bit extra time buffing it into the skin with a makeup brush and it looks amazing. If you do have an oily skin type i would avoid this foundation but if you do want to give it a try, don't be shy with the powder over the top.

Mac Face and Body

Great if you are looking for a light foundation with sheer coverage. The consistency is quite runny and I find it quite easy to apply. I love it because the lightness of it leaves your skin feeling quite breathable and fresh,  however if you are having a day where you feel that you need a little more coverage, you can easily just use a little more and build upon it without it looking packed and cakey.

Rimmel Match Perfection

A fantastic foundation in the cheaper price range for those on a tight budget. I would actually say that I often reach for this foundation over my higher priced ones. A nice consistency and medium coverage. Leaves a lovely flawless finish and stays put all day! After testing this one, I now favour it over the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation as I think the finish is more natural.

Mac Mineralize

I bought this foundation after a girl in Mac used it on me for my Graduation Ball and I absolutely loved it straight away! A thicker consistency and quite thick coverage maybe better for a night out rather than everyday wear. It might just be the shade that I own, however I would say that it can look a little orange if too much is applied so make sure that you get the perfect colour match to your skin!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

I think I was put off tinted moisturisers after I OD'd on the Benefit You Rebel a couple of years back. However my love for them has been reignited with this fantastic one from Laura Mercier. Perfect if you are having a day where you don't want to use foundation but you think your skin still needs a little something. Light weight, moisturising and very easy to use concealer and other makeup products over the top if you are looking for that barely there look but perhaps have a few blemishes that need covered up.

Look out for my top 5 bronzers!

Thanks for reading! xx

My Birthday Make-Up

It was my 24th birthday on Tuesday and I was very spoilt :)

In amongst my lovely gifts I received the GORGEOUS Warm Neutral Palette from Mac which I'm completely obsessed with.

Something else that I have been obsessed with recently is Kylie Jenner and the make-up look she has been wearing a lot. Her make-up has been all about the lashes, matte neutral eyes and heavily lined nineties style lips.

I decided to go for a Kylie Jenner inspired make-up look for my birthday night out and thought that this would give me the perfect opportunity to use my new palette. Here is some pictures of the finished look and the products that I used.

Products used:

Face

Nars Sheer Glow - Punjab
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Cool Medium 2
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - 001 Translucent
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Nars Deep Throat Blush
Dior Rose Diamond Shimmer Powder

Eyes

Rimmel Eye Brow Pencil - 001 Dark Brown
Mac Brule Eyeshadow (all over the lid)
Mac Saddle Eyeshadow (blended into the crease)
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner - 01 Black
Lancome Hypose Drama
Eylure Lengthening False Lashes - Number 116

Lips

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Liner and Lipstick - 630 Velvet Beige

Not quite Kylie Jenner but I was pretty happy with the finished look and I was ready to head out for my Birthday!

Avene Soothing Moisture Mask

I stumbled across this little gem by accident!

I've mentioned before that I have very sensitive skin that cannot handle any harsh ingredients, with this in mind I was recommended a cleanser and toner duo from a brand that I had not heard of before called Avene.

I ordered the toner and cleanser from http://www.escentual.com and they kindly told me that I had earnt a free surprise gift with the order (yipeeeeee)

As it turns out I'm not the biggest fan of the cleanser and toner from Avene but that's a different story! I would say that it was worth ordering them purely for my free gift which came in the form of  the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask

This face mask is absolutely amazing! It states that it can be used daily but I don't like to overload my skin with products so I decided to treat myself once a week on a Saturday morning when my skin may be in need of a little papering after a Friday night pub session...

The mask is in the form of a cream which you apply generously to your face. I remember the first time I used it I was amazed because I applied a thick layer and in less than five minutes the cream had completely disappeared. The instructions advise you to pat off any extra cream at this time but I found that my skin seemed to have sucked up the lot!

My skin was left feeling super soft and hydrated and the mask had left it looking very glowy (if that's a word).  I would say that people who have more of an oily skin type need to be careful as it can leave your skin feeling a little greasy if you apply too much, but for me, it provided the perfect base to apply your foundation on top to give that dewy effect (perhaps just use a bit more powder throughout the day on the areas that usually need it!)

If you feel like your skin is looking a little dry and lifeless then I would definitely say that this little guy is the one for you! Unfortunately mine has just run out so I am 100 percent going to repurchase which I actually don't often do.

Dior Amber Diamond Shimmer Powder

This post is less of a structured review and more of a public display of love for this wonderful product.

I received the Dior amber Gold highlight as a gift from my best friends for my 22nd birthday and since the moment I unwrapped it I have been in love! I think perhaps I have sentimental feelings towards it as it brings me happy memories from times spent with my besties!

Ever since then, when reaching for my highlighter, I have to constantly remind myself to branch out and try new products however the glamorous exterior packaging and the beautiful golden shimmery colours of the powder pull me back in again and again! The handy compact comes with a good sized mirror which makes it perfect to through in your makeup bag to use through the day. I would like to add that I have had mine for two years now and as you can see from the photos, I will get so much more use out of it which I think makes it a fantastic value for your money (I think it costs around the 30 pound mark).

What really attracted me to the product is the warm golden tones that leaves you with a healthy glow. I am all about the bronzed beach babe look and I think the highlighter really compliments a tan and leaves your skin looking irresistible!

I love the versatility of the product which allows me to use it during the day to compliment simple make up looks and at night when I am going for something a little more glamorous. It has the perfect amount of sparkle and light reflecting particles within the powder without leaving you looking like you have mistaken your highlighter for your glittery eyeshadow.

Team this product with a high quality bronzer and you have everything you need for perfect Kim K contouring!

Thank you for reading!

Travel Photo Blog South East Asia 2014

I was recently lucky enough to take an incredible trip around South East Asia.

This trip was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I decided that it might be nice to share some of my favourite photos along the way.

These photos were taken during and after the sunrise in a place called Nha Trang in Vietnam. It was the second day of our tour and we had just completed a 12 hour journey on an overnight sleeper train from Ho Chi Minh City. The beautiful views on the beach and the warm, crystal clear sea were more than enough to make us forget all about the long tiring journey we had just encoutered or the fact that our rooms at the hotel would not be ready until the afternoon!

This was taken in an amazing little tea shop called the Reaching Out Teahouse in Hoi An in Vietnam. The Teahouse was very unique and special as the members of staff are speech and hearing impaired. You can go there to enjoy a quiet escape from the bustling noise around about. We stayed in Hoi An for three days and in that time I visited the teahouse twice because I loved the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, the stunning decor and garden scenery and the delicious teas, coffees and refreshing drinks.

Jamie and I enjoying our second visit to the Tea House to escape the humidity with refreshing ice coffee and fruit juices!

Below is a few photos from one of my favourite mornings of the whole trip. We took a bike ride through the rice fields in Hoi An to visit a friend of our tour guide and his water buffalo.

Everyone took their turn to ride the water buffalo and with a little encouragement (pushing and prodding!) I was the last to hop on. I will leave out the photographic evidence of this as I certainly didn't do it as gracefully as the pro!

One of my favourite views during the bike ride.

I can't remember exactly where this photo was taken but I think that it was somewhere between Hoi An and Halong Bay in Vietnam. We were travelling on a coach, stopped at a little restaurant for lunch and this was the breathtaking view that greeted us!

I love the mysterious, almost haunting feel of this photo I took on a boat ride to the caves in Halong Bay.

Moving onto the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi.  We were able to experience the city on the back of a motorbike which is something that I will never forget! The fact that I was able to take this picture mid ride shows how comfortable and safe I felt zooming around the busy streets with my driver.

After the busy and hectic cities of Vietnam, it was nice to move onto a quieter and more laid-back destination. Here is a beautiful waterfall we visited one morning in Luang Prabang in Laos. The water was so fresh and revitalising but extremely cold!

Big smiles after arriving in Bangkok!

Khao San Road in Bangkok. Enjoying some great food and great beer on our last night before returning home to reality.

I hope you have enjoyed this travel blog of sorts! I have certainly enjoyed picking my favourite moments/photos and sharing them with you :)
