I have joined the Matte Revolution!

I don't know about you but I tend to shy away from matte lipsticks when my lips are chapped and dry (usually in the winter which when I like to wear them the most). But AT LAST i can get my matte on with this delicious new range from Charlotte Tilbury

I cannot rave about this product enough. Charlotte has given us a matte lipstick that produces a striking colour that stays put for hours and doesn't drag across your lips or leave you feeling like you are parched. If that wasn't enough, the original shape of the bullet allows for easy use and leaves a crisp defined edge which in my opinion eliminates the need for a liner if you are in a rush. Last but not least I am going to take a moment to rave about the packaging which is is utterly rose goldenly stunning and the lipstick smells amazing.

I won't rant on too much further as I know many bloggers who have been lucky enough to try out the whole range have provided really good detailed reviews. At £23 a pop I have only managed to get my hands on one so far in the colour Love Liberty which is a gorgeous berry shade but rest assured I already have another just waiting in my online basket for when Pay Day comes around.

Cheers Tilbs, if you are reading (haha), I owe you one!

Bourjois Bronzing Powder and Highlighter

First of all I would just like to say how much I LOVE finding myself a little bargain.

I was in boots one lunch time browsing the makeup as you do and I stopped at the Bourjois stand with the intention of picking up the chocolate bronzer when this little compact caught my eye.

I had heard bloggers mention the product previously and I had been looking for a new contour kit so I looked at the price (I think normal price is around £7) and thought, I'll give it a go. I then got to the till only to be told that it was on offer today for a cracking £3.99! I paid and scurried out of the shop in case the shop assistant realised that it had been some sort of mistake.

The pros of the Bourjois Bronzing Powder and Highlight kit are that the bronzer is a really lovely shade, I would say similar to the Nars Laguna. It  provides a really natural looking colour, not too dark or orange. The highlight is also a really lovely colour, really light and fresh. I would say that the highlight is quite subtle so I do find that if I am looking for a really glowy look I do have to use quite a lot of it but I think subtlety is actually a positive of the product. It's all down to personal taste!

The set is really compact and has a mirror (great!). it also has magnetic top cover which makes it a perfect product to throw in the handbag without any fear of mess.

The only con of the product is that the rectangles of bronze and highlight are quite small and directly side by side so I have found that I have to use quite a small brush to make sure that I can use the two separately without overlapping.

Thanks for reading as always!

My top 5 foundations

I was asked for foundation and bronzer recommendations from someone who has been out of the make up game for a while so thought I would share my top five with mini reviews.

Nars Sheer Glow

This foundation is medium coverage (not sheer) and is perfect for creating glowing skin. I would say that I didn't get the hype at first as I found that it made my skin look a bit too shiny and greasy if too much was applied however I think that I have now perfected the application and I love it! I would say don't use too much and just spend that little bit extra time buffing it into the skin with a makeup brush and it looks amazing. If you do have an oily skin type i would avoid this foundation but if you do want to give it a try, don't be shy with the powder over the top.

Mac Face and Body

Great if you are looking for a light foundation with sheer coverage. The consistency is quite runny and I find it quite easy to apply. I love it because the lightness of it leaves your skin feeling quite breathable and fresh,  however if you are having a day where you feel that you need a little more coverage, you can easily just use a little more and build upon it without it looking packed and cakey.

Rimmel Match Perfection

A fantastic foundation in the cheaper price range for those on a tight budget. I would actually say that I often reach for this foundation over my higher priced ones. A nice consistency and medium coverage. Leaves a lovely flawless finish and stays put all day! After testing this one, I now favour it over the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation as I think the finish is more natural.

Mac Mineralize

I bought this foundation after a girl in Mac used it on me for my Graduation Ball and I absolutely loved it straight away! A thicker consistency and quite thick coverage maybe better for a night out rather than everyday wear. It might just be the shade that I own, however I would say that it can look a little orange if too much is applied so make sure that you get the perfect colour match to your skin!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

I think I was put off tinted moisturisers after I OD'd on the Benefit You Rebel a couple of years back. However my love for them has been reignited with this fantastic one from Laura Mercier. Perfect if you are having a day where you don't want to use foundation but you think your skin still needs a little something. Light weight, moisturising and very easy to use concealer and other makeup products over the top if you are looking for that barely there look but perhaps have a few blemishes that need covered up.

Look out for my top 5 bronzers!
